Better to develop the first solution more quickly. With a view to the StreetScooter, our goal was to get to the first results as quickly as possible, rather than extensively andtime-consumingly plan – this kind of “perfectionism” just took us too long.
In retrospect, we can now say that for us the “failure” is an essential part of our success concept. Instead of the lofty goal, to wait for the perfect prototype, we prefer the shortcut to the goal; knowing that the first solution will still have errors and will need to be optimized. But with a first 80% solution, the launch base is already a very different one and the development can proceed much faster.
This way we can build and test precursors to classical prototypes early on. We call these precursors primotypes. We intentionally built early primotypes in the StreetScooter project too and used them for querying customer requirements.
